Going on a pilgrimage between East and West on the Harz Monastery Hiking Trail
Get to ease of mind on your pilgrimage from Ilsenburg to the monastery Wöltingerode and experience the Harz Mointains National Park.
After your arrival you enjoy Ilsenburg with its two monasteries Drübeck and Ilsenburg. On the second day you hike along the “Green Ribbon” from ilsenburg to Stapelburg and Abbenrode until you are arriving at the monastery Wöltingerode. On that journey you experience unique nature along the former inner German boarder.
By rail you are travelling from Vienenburg back to Ilsenburg for your overnight stay. There is an hourly connection which takes you only about 13 minutes.

Great history, quiet churches – „Romanesque Route of Saxony-Anhalt“ by bike
Rural churches, monasteries, cathedrales, castles and city layouts – Saxony-Anhalt is abundant with historical monuments from medieval times. The “Straße der Romanik” allows us to gain insight into this époque. Witness a journey in time through the years between 950 and 1250. First, follow the river Elbe northward and cycle through the forests and fields of the Altmark.
